Article (probably clipped from Daily Southtown, unfortunately without a date): Sisters Wed At Same Service: "Shirley Mae Stevens was married to George A. Novak, while her sister, Margaret Mary, became the bride of Bernard L. Galligan in a double ceremony August 23 in St. Martin Church. The brides are the daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Frank E. Stevens Sr., 313 W. 58th st. Mr. Novak is the son of Mrs. Johanna Novak, 5831 Sangamon st., and Mr. Galligan is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Galligan. For the ceremony performed by the Rev. P.A. Englin, the sisters were dressed identically in egg-shell satin with fingertip veils caught to seed pearl crowns. They carried bouquets of white roses and stephanotis. Mrs. Donald Cameron attended both brides as matron of honor while bridesmaids were Mrs. Lawrence Novak, Leona and Dolores Wachdorf, cousins of the brides, and Mrs. Daniel Galligan. All wore white nylon, silk and lace with net tiaras and carried American beauty roses. Audria Stevens, sister of the brides, and Judy Novak, Mr. Novak's niece, were the flower girls, while Ronald Stevens, the brides' 10-year-old brother, was the ring bearer. Frank Stevens Jr., brother of the brides, attended Mr. Novak as best man and John Murray attended Mr. Galligan Other attendants were Lawrence Novak and Dan Galligan. Breakfast was served to 30 guests in Mickelberry's Log cabin and dinner was served to 200 relatives in the Odd Fellows temple. Both couples spent their honeymoon at Tippecanoe River Lodge, Winamac Indiana. The Novaks are at home at 5831 Sangamon st., and the Galligans are at home at 434 W. 59th st. All attended Englewood High School.
Richard's tombstone at St. Mary's in Evergreen Park gives his birth date as 10-6-1928 (though he is somehow omitted from the family in the 1930 census) and his death as 5-2-1971. He had married and divorced and served in Korea before his death. In the Florida death index his middle name is given as Edward.
